I’m going to follow up with a longer post on the process, since it took me a while to illustrate/design and may actually be somewhat interesting. The final file is a 300dpi 24x36 inch movie size poster and is 1.3Gig file on my drive. Many times my mac was struggling and saving took forever, but I’m looking forward to printing it out, there are a lot of details that can’t be seen in this smaller version.

In any case this is the first step into our branding strategy; a new website and post cards are soon to follow. By the way if you are in the Bay Area, please check the film. It’s awesome.

The theme is bascially Sumo vs Octopus; those are supposed to be an army of sumo wrestlers parachuting down to take on a giant octopus. The sumo theme is related to the space we were ask to paint for but the rest is just some random scene I started thinking of (also, i wanted to draw a big ass octopus). I’ve never done a mural nor painted something so large, so this is an experience I’m looking forward to. Not sure how the project will go and what the final design will be, but thought it was a cool little sketch nonetheless.

Getting Started With Generative Art « Media Militia

Getting Started With Generative Art « Media Militia:
I’ve been a big fan of generative art for a while and one of the reason I became a flash developer. This is nice post with tutorials links and app you can use to get started making your own pieces.

Find your tracks

Find your tracks:
Really slick UI for filtering and selecting music tracks that fit the mood you are in. Love the Flash execution, tight.

Internet Vices - Patrick Moberg

Internet Vices - Patrick Moberg:
so funny

Been a while since I went out for a drink, just came back from...

Been a while since I went out for a drink, just came back from one

Last night, the LACMA held a private reception for their very...

Last night, the LACMA held a private reception for their very cool new exhibition: Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India’s Comics. The exhibit highlights some of India’s newest talent interpreting characters from ancient Hindu mythology into contemporary South Asian comic books. It showcases original black & white boards from some of these comics and the art is quite lovely. Being an illustrator, I loved seeing these huge drawings in pen and pencil before they have been inked for high quality mass production. I highly recommend checking out this unique show while it lasts.

Speaking of the reception, I was invited to DJ the event and was joined by my good friend, Robin Sukhadia (TablaPusher). We played together for the first time in over a year, he on the tablas with effects pedal and me on the decks; was good times. The invite to the reception was pretty rad and now that it is over I can post it.

Several months back, for a hot minute or so, I really got into...

Several months back, for a hot minute or so, I really got into drawing birds. My typical method of drawing things is scouring Google images for photographs and then just illustrating bits and pieces into a composition I like. I ended up creating my general business card out of some of my doodles and was really pleased with the final printing from vistaprint.
